Group Assignments

Question

How do I create group assignments for students?  I want students to select a partner and work on some assignments together.  Do I assign them a group number?  When students submit, can only one student submit and it registers that both submitted the assignment if they use the group number provided?

Hi there, @PhyllisRayburn ...

* First, you'll need to create a Group Set.  You could give this a name that is identical to the name of the assignment if you want.  How do I add a group set in a course? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
* Next, you can create groups within the Group Set and name them anything you want.  For example, you could name each such as "Green Team", "Red Team", "Blue Team", etc.  Students could then self sign up for these groups.  How do I create self sign-up groups in a group set... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
* For the assignment in question, you'll also need to make sure that you've configured your assignment to be a group assignment.  You'll want to select the Group Set name that you created (see my first bullet point).  Here is information on how to do this: How do I assign an assignment to a course group? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).  Be sure to read the information in the light blue box...as it will answer last question.
