Do the links in your slide (which you say point to assignments) absolutely need to be within your slide? Assuming that these links are pointing to Canvas assignments, why not include those links above or below the slide you've embedded via iFrame? You can create links to your assignments via the RCE (Rich Content Editor), and they won't open up in a new tab/window.
