How did you add images to your Home Page? Did you copy and paste the images or did you upload the images? If you merely copied and pasted the images, then that's most likely the issue.

Check that the images you have on the home page are not in a folder that is unpublished. I suspect you uploaded the images to a folder in your files, and that folder is not published for students. So, when you switch to student view, the images are not available. When you view the page as an instructor, you have permission to view them.
