To the Canvas Product Team, I am writing to request a new global or course-level setting for the Rich Content Editor (RCE). Currently, when images are uploaded or embedded, Canvas defaults to displaying the full image. For many lab-based and data-heavy courses—such as my current molecular biology lab course—we often need…
When our instructors try to send a message via the Inbox and search for a course name, Canvas only shows the full name of the course — without any additional identifying information such as course ID number or course section. This causes confusion when an instructor has multiple courses with the same course title, but…
Our Spanish department uses New Quizzes/Essay question type for students to record themselves talking using the record media function in the RCE. They did this all last year. However, now when the students log in to take the quize, the upload/record media icon isn't available to them. Is this a new issues? Anyone have any…
Why would this be a thing?! It doesn't make any sense. I can't give an assignment that doesn't have a grade?
Sorry for the MS paint editing but I'm busy working my way through all my course content to remove the font-family from everything, because we have the dyslexics. I had set "Consolas, mono-space, sans-serif" to suit the vibe of my subject matter, but accessibility overrides… just not automatically via account settings.
Is there a way to create a student role with permissions to edit and create modules or moderate grades. It would be an ideal solution for clubs that are run in Canvas. It might be something where the course itself has to be identified in an alternative way.
Does anybody have experience with how multiple admin roles within an account interact? If one role grants a permission and the other denies it, I assume the end result would be that the permission is denied to the user? I don't recall if we actively have "use default" applied, does that enter into how they're applied? I'm…
Description: We are experiencing an inconsistent issue with Canvas Discussion Forums where a Teacher/Admin cannot reply to comments in some discussions, while in others (within the same course) everything works as expected. Context The issue occurs inside the same Course User roles affected: Teacher / Admin Problem:…
For our first week of the semester, I posted an introductory discussion and my students were supposed to hit "reply" and post their introductions under mine. They ended up posting separate discussions each at the bottom of the discussion page. Is there a way I can move the discussions under my discussions? I'm not sure…
Hi, Is it possible to filter and/or hide inactive users from the "People" page? Although not harmful, it is annoying having multiple "inactive" users under an active course. Thank you! Best, MA Montanez How do I use the People page in a course as an instructor?Last Updated: Dec 2, 2025
