I’m working through a Sherpath/Evolve LTI 1.3 setup in Canvas and would appreciate some guidance from others who have configured grade passback.
Sherpath’s guidance is that the point values need to be adjusted in the Sherpath link opened through the LTI so that the grades pass back to Canvas with the intended Canvas point values. That makes sense for the tests, where each test has a specific Canvas point value.
The piece I’m trying to resolve is the assignments. In our course, Elsevier reports assignments as percentages/points out of 100, but the intended Canvas value is 2 points per assignment (with one exception at 11 points).
One possible solution that has been suggested is to use a weighted Assignment Group for the assignments. However, that does not seem to make sense for this course because the assignments are not weighted. The course is intended to be points-based, with the assignment points contributing directly to the overall total.
Has anyone encountered this situation with Sherpath grade passback? Specifically, how are you handling assignments when Sherpath requires the Canvas point values to be established through the LTI, but the course is not using weighted Assignment Groups?
I’m particularly interested in whether there is a Canvas-side configuration that allows the assignments to remain 2 points each while preserving a straight points-based grade calculation.
