How do I do this. I've tested everything and THE ONLY WAY to do this is remove the UNTIL date. I'm very frustrated.
We are having the same problem - but this is new. Students used to be able to see the questions and their responses. Something has changed, and it's not good.
Thank you! My personal thoughts are "They need to fix this." Several of our faculty need this corrected quickly. New Quizzes is useless in our environment as it is today. Some are moving back to Classic Quizzes and are upset about all the hard work they put into New Quizzes.
Totally agree - the workaround to remove the Until Date is anot acceptable, for obvious reasons. This needs to be addressed and corrected ASAP.
@czile and @ccalderon Can you share what settings you have selected for grade visibility and the Hide results from students settings you selected when building the New Quiz? I would like to try and replicate this so that I can report it to Instructure Support.
@ccalderon Can you explain what has changed? What setup did you have before and what did it allow?
@ccalderon and @czile I just put a ticket into Instructure Support regarding this. Please also put tickets into them — it helps support understand the magnitude of the problem.
For others, if you have grade posted, have Hide results from students disabled, and use the Until feature under Assign To, your students cannot view the results of their quiz.
Faculty at our institution are encountering the same issue. We have submitted a ticket as well and was informed it was a known issue. Hopefully that means they are working on it.
We have submitted a ticket as well.
Well, lesson learned. I had adopted New Quizzes for the first time this semester and this functionality was lost on the eve of exams I was giving to 600 students so e-mail mayhem ensued. My university logged a trouble ticket but, a week later, there is no update. So back to Classic Quizzes I go. That seems to be working just fine.
We're seeing some evidence that this problem may have been fixed by Instructure. I've asked for confirmation in one of our open Service Cloud cases.
@RobDitto Sorry for the delayed update. A fix was pushed to production around 7:37pm EST last night.
Sorry - been out of the office. After checking this thread and my test course, I can confirm this issue appears to have been corrected - thank you!!
Hi everyone,
I’m the Product Manager for New Quizzes. I want to sincerely apologize for the disruption and frustration these recent access issues have caused you and your students. We know how critical quiz availability settings are to your workflows, and we clearly missed the mark here.
To provide some transparency on what occurred:
Our scheduled release on February 25th included an update designed to enhance quiz security by ensuring New Quizzes could not be launched outside of their specified availability windows. While the intent was to tighten access controls, this change unfortunately introduced unexpected behavior that impacted quiz access for many users.
Our engineering team has been working to address this, and I can confirm that we deployed a hotfix yesterday, March 4th, to revert the problematic change and restore access.
We are currently reviewing our internal release standards to better protect the stability of your daily workflows. Our goal is to ensure that every update we provide is as seamless as possible, and it’s clear we didn’t meet that standard this past week.
Thank you for your patience and for sharing your feedback here. It helps us stay accountable as we work to improve the reliability of New Quizzes.
Best,
Balazs Serenyi - Product Manager, New Quizzes
Hey @ALEXHOHMANN80734982, I am so incredibly sorry to hear about the 'email mayhem' you faced, especially with 600 students on the eve of an exam. That is exactly the kind of stress we aim to prevent, and I completely understand why you’d revert to a known stable workflow in that situation.
I've just posted a broader update to this thread, but I wanted to reply to you directly: We deployed a hotfix yesterday (March 4) to resolve this specific access issue.
While I know this comes after your exam window, I hope the fix allows for a smoother experience for the rest of your term. We are currently reviewing our release standards to ensure this level of disruption doesn't happen again. If you decide to give New Quizzes another try in the future, we’ll be here to support you.
Balazs Serenyi
Thank you!
@BalazsSerenyi I appreciate the transparency on this issue. I do wish that the update to New Quizzes had been listed in the deploy notes for 2/25. If we new backend things like this were going to occur, it would be helpful for us to troubleshoot any problems that arise soon after deploys.
I am trying to download a single submission that has been annotated by a grader using the API. Does anyone know how to do this? I am using Python using the canvasapi and requests libraries to query the preview_url in the submission attachments. import requests from urllib.parse import urljoin preview_url =…
Is there a trick to importing a rubric when using the Canvas rubric template? I download the csv file and fill in the Canvas Rubric template from the Enhanced Grading feature and nothing happens when I try to upload it. It only shows the file name, but not it's size. Yes, it is still a CSV. I've tried removing all symbols…
With the new SpeedGrader UI, we are seeing student names appear in the page title even when the “Hide student names” setting is enabled. When using Classic Quizzes, there is no option within the quiz settings to enable anonymous grading, so we rely on instructors using the hide student names setting in SpeedGrader to…
Speedgrader chaning file name when being downloaded. Speedgrader: When downloading a submitted assignment, the file name is being changed to an unrecognizable name — (Student's actual name was part of the file name — changed for privacy.) Ideas???
We are all familiar with the standard Course Calendar, where assignment due dates are automatically added. However, at my institution, we structure our assignments as Challenges that develop over a period of time, rather than just a single deadline. Currently, the calendar only highlights the "end point." It would be a…
