Discussion authorship - can't find a good workaround

I'm an instructional designer. When I create or duplicate a discussion in a course, my name and profile pic show as the author & I can't change it. The only thing that seems to work is to create all the discussions as usual, then ask the instructor to duplicate them & delete my originals. This works, but faculty are unhappy about the extra steps, and also sometimes they mess it up and I have to fix it anyway. It is definitely not ideal.

I've tried several workarounds, with no luck. Now I'm trying workarounds for the workarounds.

Is there ANY way to avoid my name appearing as the discussion author?
How about a way to "copy to" discussions in the same course without overwriting previous copies?
How about a way to import from another course or the Commons without duplicating the icon files used in my institution's template?

You can create a discussion in another course and then copy it (using copy to) into the course where you don't want your name and profile to show.

Thanks. I tried that, & it still brings in duplicate icon files from our template. It'll work if I copy or import a blank discussion from another course & then rebuild the discussion template every time, but that wrecks part of the purpose of having a template to begin with. It all seems unnecessarily convoluted, but it still might be the best option.

If you use the "Import Course Content" option you can import the discussion from a different course and it won't have a designated author or profile picture associated with the discussion.

I have Canvas set to drop the lowest quiz score, however, my students can only barely tell that the grade text is slightly grey when dropped. Can it have a tag like the "missing" and "exempt" ones in the student gradebook?
