How are instructors keeping track of student showcase portfolios?

We are looking to take better advantage of the portfolio offerings. Currently, it doesn't appear that evaluation portfolios are ready for multi-semester updating at the higher ed level. But with showcase portfolios, how are other instructors keeping track that students have completed the requirements? Just through visiting the public link? Thanks for any experienced tips.

One option that can help with keeping tabs on students and their showcase portfolios is to create an assignment in Canvas where students can submit the link to their portfolios or the downloaded version and, if desired, a reflection or progress check. This will serve as a reminder to students to update their portfolios as well as provide you with easy access to them. This also would allow you to provide comments and feedback to students in Canvas.
