Course setup? Student chooses topic, then submits assignments specific to that topic during the week. How do I get those assignments on their calendar for the week?

Each week has the same pattern of assignments, but the assignments for each topic aren't fungible.

reading/quiz → writing assignment → hands-on task → inspection report

I'd like to allow the student to choose which topic they want to work on each week, but I need to figure out how to get those assignments on their calendar…. you all know they won't navigate the course content to find the work, no matter how easy I make it.

Pacing doesn't allow differentiation, as far as I can tell.
Mastery paths doesn't do due dates, or "choose your own adventure."

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I like how you are arranging differentiation and multiple ways to engage with your students.

Is a work around to run a quick survey or quiz at the start of each week where students nominate their preference. Using this info, you set the weekly assignment and assign it to the students accordingly - that way they can have a due date based on their selection.
