Is there any workaround to get an assignment to sync/post with an LMS, we use Infinite Campus specifically, without having a grade in?
@KRose13 Welcome!
There is unfortunately not a workaround -- Infinite Campus uses the OneRoster specification (which a lot of other SIS use) and you must have at least 1 grade in (with an actual student, not the Test Student) for the assignment to get synced and created in Infinite Campus.
That being said @JeffCampbell suggested a way to automate putting a grade in after the due date has passed that is a good idea although of course consult with your district on rules regarding grades. The system in Canvas is relatively flexible and you can also use the Late Submission policy if you have a policy that deducts points/percent per day late.
I have not used Infinite Campus, but looking at the guide for syncing to Infinite Campus, it does appear to require at least one grade is entered in order for the sync to work: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Infinite-Campus-and-Canvas/How-do-I-sync-my-course-gradebook-from-Canvas-to-Infinite-Campus/ta-p/424522
In my searching, I have not found a workaround for this issue. However, I did find some suggestions, based on the idea that the Due Date has passed, but you have not entered grades yet. You can set up your course to automatically assign a grade for missing work (typically 0%) in the Gradebook Settings. If you have nightly sync turned on, the first time that sync occurs after the due date, anyone who has not turned it in will receive a 0%, which is sent to IC. I suspect (if like PowerSchool), then students who have turned it in will see a blank entry in IC. This forces a grades for missing work, which therefore forces the sync to occur.Maybe someone more familiar with IC might be aware of another option. This is what I can find.
I recently discovered an error in a quiz question for an exam my students have already taken. I want to regrade that question so that anyone who had that question in their Quiz would get a point regardless of their answer since it was not possible to answer it given the choices. Unfortunately, as best I can tell, because…
I assigned the first draft of an assignment. Each student got rubric comments from me and from one peer. The Speed Grader view gives me a "Select Rubric" menu, allowing me to toggle between my comments and the peer comments. But the Gradebook's "Bulk Download Rubrics" command generates a CSV file with only the peers'…
Hi all, I'm looking to see if this has happened for anyone else. A student completed a Classic Quiz and one question was counted wrong that should not have been. In the quiz settings, the instructor entered 9 possible answers for this question. The student entered one of these answers. However, that particular question was…
Looking for the addition of partial credit for alternative format questions in Canvas, like ordering and category/matrix. We can only do it in close drop down, matching, and multiple response.
Has anyone found gaps in their course analytics ? I'm currently seeing missing last view date, last participation date, and participations at overall course level, even though the same data is present at individual week and student level. Am also seeing truncated asset counts ie we are seeing only the global header counts,…
