This explains everything... Not. The instructions are lacking one key element and that's how actually access and post discussions for my specific class properly.
While I would be glad to help, I am a bit unclear what specifically you need help with. The best I can glean is that you need help with using Discussions. If that is true, once you go to your class, look for the Discussions option in the course menu (the same menu that has Home, Modules, Pages...). Once you click on Discussions, then you will see a list of discussions. If you are trying to respond to a discussion, select the desired discussion, then click on Reply at the bottom of the page to open the text box to type your reply. If you are trying to create a discussion, look for a blue button in the upper right that says +Add Discussion. If you do not see that, then your teacher has not turned on the ability for students to create discussions. You will have to talk to them directly.
If you need help with a particular assignment, we do not have access to your course and will not be able to help. Those questions would be better sent to your teacher. This is a community forum for users seeking help with Canvas and we are not directly connected with your school. If I misunderstood, and you were not needing help with Discussions but with another feature in Canvas, please share what you need help with so either myself or another user can try to help you.
I'll add another step to try: if there is no "Discussions" option on the course menu, then a particular discussion might be accessible through "Modules" or linked from an Announcement or a Page.
Asking your instructor directly (in person, messaging through the Canvas Inbox, or any other way you contact them) is your best bet if these did typical steps did not help, because the answer depends on how they have set up the class. And if you ask for clarification, it might help everyone else in the class, too!
Among all the things that I wish Canvas had is that one! Is it something that is been worked on? We had it in Blackboard (legacy) and I sorely miss and need in Canvas (we just transitioned to it from Bb). Please add this very needed feature!
I have Canvas set to drop the lowest quiz score, however, my students can only barely tell that the grade text is slightly grey when dropped. Can it have a tag like the "missing" and "exempt" ones in the student gradebook?
My Canvas shell has three different sections that all meet at different times throughout the week. I need to be able to batch edit assignment due dates by section, but right now Canvas can't filter by section for batch edit. My only option is now to manually (tediously) edit due dates for each assignment individually.
Morning! One of the more frustrating aspects of Canvas are groups and the issues that show up when copying courses that have them. But now we have yet another issue. Most recently we have had instances where people mark an assignment/discussion as a group assignment but then do not link the discussion or assignment to any…
So, we have encountered a few assignments where the Speedgrader presents the teacher with the "Empty Course" page, even though the course is not empty. I have discovered two New Quizzes in the same course where this has occurred, despite multiple students being assigned (at Module level, which passes the permission down to…
