Hey folks. I've been in the LMS space for a while now, and I wanted to hear other people's ideas on how they use SCORMs in Canvas.
More specifically - I have a number of courses that I have to build out around a series of SCORM modules. Yes, I know, it's not the most ideal situation, but it's the hand I've been dealt. Unfortunately there's very little wiggle room when presenting SCORM files in Canvas, and I'd like to hear some alternative approaches to just dumping them into the "Modules" for the course and letting people finish them.
For instance, I would love to be able to build a 'hub' home page where people click the buttons to start the SCORMs, and have the page update with the SCORM progress so the learner knows which modules have not been completed.
I've been able to load the SCORMs and build buttons that connect to the SCORM assignment pages via a simple 'hub' home page, but I'm not sure how to then have the SCORM completion status refresh on that main page. It doesn't need to track anything other than pure completion data on the LMS side for this to work the way I want it to, just a "has the SCORM been registered as completed" status.
Has anyone done anything like this, or have other interesting ways to serve SCORMs on Canvas? I'd love to hear your thoughts, or any links you can show where people have done innovative things with their course page in a similar fashion.
Thanks!
Allan.
