Is there a way to have the rubric score automatically added to the grade score or do I have to type it in each time?

I think you are asking is if the grade from the rubric will automatically be the grade for the assignment as a whole. If so, you will add or create a rubric for a given assignment (see screenshot) and then if you hit the pencil icon, it will allow you to edit. There you will see the option to "use this rubric for assignment grading" (see screenshot).
