Opening up Canvas for student who previously submitted an assignment

I have a student who will need to submit a second version of an assignment in Canvas to receive credit. He is claiming that the dropbox in Canvas is closed, when it is not. Can students submit again in Canvas in a dropbox, after they have previously submitted an assignment?

For clarification, has the entire course ended already and students cannot access the content? Or, is it just one assignment that needs to be re-submitted by a student?

Also, just so you know, technically Canvas does not have a "dropbox". Some other LMSs may refer to the way that students submit work to a "dropbox", but for the purposes of Canvas, submissions are typically submitted through the assignment itself (assignments are listed on the "Assignments" index page).

If you could help fill in some of the details about how your course is currently set up (including any details about access dates, etc.) of the assignment, that would be helpful. Thanks!

@WilliamMurra140 along with what @Chris_Hofer mentioned, I would suggest looking at the settings for the assignments to make sure that it is not set for one submission. If it is set for one submission and a student has made a submission, they will not be able to submit again - even if the assignment is available for submissions to be made.
