I teach face-to-face classes and enter exam grades in the Canvas gradebook, where I can view the mean. Does Canvas also provide the standard deviation of graded assignments under New Analytics or anywhere else?
Hi @Kamal_H ...
I'm not sure what version of the Canvas quizzing engine you are using, but these are the Guides available for you related to statistics and reports for quizzes:
Hopefully one of these Guides will be helpful to you. Sing out if you have any other questions about this...thanks!
Thank you, Chris.
For online classes using Canvas New Quizzes, I can see the Standard Deviation along with the score distribution.
However, for FTF classes where we administer paper exams and manually enter grades, Canvas does not provide the Standard Deviation unless we export the Gradebook to Excel to find the standard deviation.
Let me know if there are any other options I might have missed.
Best,Kamal
When I graded paper exams and posted the grades in Canvas, students were able to see statistics like a box plot. As an instructor, I would also like to have access to key statistical measures such as mean, median, mode, Q1, Q3, and standard deviation for exams. This is my first time using the new discussion "checkpoints". I'm hoping the multiple due dates are effective, but using the "checkpoints" does seem to create other problems: They only allow for ONE "reply to topic". The way I use discussions in some of my classes is to allow for students to ask MULTIPLE questions per…
