Pretty simple-- want to shift a bunch of rows at one time... how is this done?
Hi @Fursty,
This really depends on what you mean by "shift". Let me try to explain what Canvas CAN do with html tables...
If you want to add a row or column (essentially what I'd call shifting all rows/columns down/right), Canvas can do that. You'd put your cursor in the first cell you want to shift, then use the icons at the bottom of the table. In this example, my cursor was in r2c1 and I clicked the insert row above button...
Now if you want to only affect certain rows or columns, you can highlight the cells you want to move by click+drag, then use cut (cmd/ctrl+x) then move the cursor to the upper-left cell you want those cells to start in again and paste (ctrl/cmd+v). In this example, I highlighted the cells shown, then pasted them with my cursor in r3c2. This essentially shifted the highlighted cells one column to the right. With this tactic, you do need to have enough empty space for the content to be pasted, otherwise it would overwrite existing content
I hope this info helps!

If seems that you are referring to tables when using the Rich Content Editor (RCE) in Canvas. Along with everything said by @chriscas, you can refer to How do I insert a table using the Rich Content Editor? - Instructure Community - 618220 for some general information about tables in the RCE.
When using tables, I recommend making sure that you follow accessibility standards.
Let us know if you need anything else.

Hello! I am using a canvas assignment text box to do an in-class writing task for my students. I would like to limit the features of the text box to prevent cheating. How can I remove features like "add code" or "access google" so that students can only do the simple task of typing an essay? I am already using Securly to…
Hi everyone, It looks like the multiple rubric idea has bounced around a bit with the different feature request methodologies over the years, including a mention in New & Next 2024 according to this post, interviews in the enhanced rubrics features group, being listed as "under consideration" on the new roadmap, and this…
I recently had an exam provided as a Canvas Quiz in my class, and used some questions copied from question banks from other sections and prior years of the course. Some of those questions had "General Answer Comment" text already saved in them. I changed that text in several questions as I updated/changed the questions.…
I would like to suggest improvements to how collaborations function within Canvas LMS. Currently, collaborations are somewhat limited in how they can be accessed and integrated into course content. One potential improvement would be allowing collaborations to be directly linkable within Pages and Modules. This would make…
We are using the Learning Mastery Gradebook with an rubric on account-level. When we enter the gradebook, the sorting does not make any sense. How can we make the sorting so it makes sense to us. It feels like a randam sorting.
