Canvas submission linked to TII

Question

We have an assignment component set with Canvas linked to TII submission. The settings would allow students to have late submission. As per normal practice, students are allowed for 1 attempt of late submission, thus, Speed Grader must have shown only 1 record of the late submission.

However, we've noticed that there are 2 records of late submission displaying for 1 student. I wonder if there was a technical error there or any mistake made from our end that causes to this issue?

I think there may be a misunderstanding of the available assignment settings. In Canvas, you can limit the number of attempts, but cannot limit the number of late attempts. In this case, it looks like the student did not have an on-time submission and instead had two late submissions.
