I incorrectly created a student account for myself when I should have created a parent observer account. Is there a way to change the account from student to parent? I don't want to have to create a new email to create a parent account.
Hi @AWood70,
I think I have some good news for you. It doesn't really matter what you select when you create your account, you can still pair with your child and observe them, the directions are just slightly different... You can follow the How do I link a student to my user account as an o... - Instructure Community - 539 guide and log in with the account you already made (you can ignore the part that says you had to create a parent account, the accounts are basically all the same in the end).
Let us know if this works for you!

When I go to Account and then settings, I don't have an option to open Observing.

I would suggest contacting the instructor of the courses you are observing so that you are attached to the correct student (if that's the case), or observing the course in general. More about the Observer Role is available here: Observer/Parent Getting Started Guide.

Looking…
