In the new discussions, is there a way to sort by the date of the initial post in the thread? Not by the date of the most recent post in the thread? Appreciate any help.
@cmuir The Discussions/Announcements product manager indicated that the way sort works in the Redesign may be revised to match the original functionality in a blog post: Discussion Redesign Updates. Many commenters agreed with your point here that the sort should keep replies in chronological order. You might post a comment there saying that you hope they will make that change as soon as possible.
It has been almost six weeks since the product manager replied there, and she said that she would post when it is confirmed that they will return to or add this original sorting. But she has not posted confirmation yet.
Hello @cmuir
If you select the discussion you want to view, you should be able to view the responses within that thread by the most recent post. When it come to sorting I believe only responses in the main thread can be sorted.

We use course pacing to manage due dates, because we run ~20 something courses each quarter and manually setting due dates would be a nightmare. Several courses have two core topics. We want to allow students to choose which of these they will pursue first. Is there any way to configure multiple course paces with different…
Hoping someone can explain for me. We're using pacing to avoid manually dating regular assignments each quarter, but the dates I see are based on when the course was instantiated, while students see dates based on when they were added to the course by [backend software I don't know anything about, presumably]. If I set…
Has anyone else had issues with an influx of duplicate users in Canvas? Ours is currently in the form of an email that already exists, becoming a new user - and not automatically merging with the user ID with the same email that also is linked to our SIS ID correctly as well. For example, user 1 is xyz@gmail.com without a…
