Our administration is looking for a report we can run per term for instructors access to Canvas and each course they instruct. Logins and possible access to and interaction in the course.
I know that Canvas can save how many hours each instructor spent in each course:
I do not know what access you have in your Canvas.
In the past, a school I taught for would have the department chair added to every course as another instructor, so she could keep tabs on things. She would accumulate the information about how many hours the instructor spent in each course.
A word of caution: I was once called out for my claim that I spent all summer building a course, but Canvas showed that I had spent very little time in the course that semester. This was because I had copied the course from the template I spent all summer building into the shell for that semester. My boss did not check the template that I might have deleted before she asked. I did not even remember the template for several days; I was mystified as to why I had spent so little time in that course.
@gumbelj If you check sub account reports you will find that you can run an activity report for one month. There may be improved reporting as Admin Analytics is refined, but you could get your dev team to look at this alongside API and data warehousing solutions. https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Resource-Documents/Canvas-Default-Account-Reports/ta-p/387054
The User Course Access Log report shows all the activity from users enrolled in all courses in a given term. The times viewed and times participated are counted from the beginning of time until the time the report was generated. A maximum of one month's data will be retrieved. By default, it will return data from the beginning of the previous week.
I want to build a page with a sortable table—allowing the students to click on a table header in order to sort the entire table by that column alphabetically/numerically. I've got some experience with HTML and have found some explainers on how to do this, but it doesn't seem to work. Does Canvas presently support sortable…
I teach middle school and my students have recently discovered the ability to play the "what-if" game with grades. They are now obsessed and are playing with it all the time. For the preservation of their sanity I would like to turn it off but don't want to hide their course grade. Is there a way to do so? PLEASE HELP by…
I'm not sure that this is the right place to post about this, but I was wondering if anyone has a fix for how the scroll bar for the entire page covers the scroll bar for just a document viewed in Canvas. The scroll bar for a document will stay visible until one attempts to interact with it, at which point the bar for the…
Hi There, We are in the process of transitioning to Canvas this year and were wanting to connect with any other MYP schools to see how you setup Assignment and grading under your modules. Or you could guide us to any resources you may have.
After using Canvas for a while, I picked up a small habit that’s saved me some last-minute stress with written submissions. Even when drafts are original, longer explanations and summaries tend to reuse common phrasing, especially in research-heavy assignments. Before submitting, I usually do a quick cleanup pass to reduce…
