I have apparently missed a step somewhere along the way but how and where do I submit my sons school work, like his workbook pages?

While we can point you to general instructions for submitting assignments in Canvas ( https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-submit-an-online-assignment/ta-p/503 ), we don't have any specific information about the assignments in your son's course. You will want to contact the teacher to get specific information about assignments in the course.
In Canvas, you can do this by clicking on "Help > Contact Your Instructor..."
