Section within a section

If I set up a section within a section, and there are some assignments that will be done by both sections, can I just leave them assigned to Everyone  or do I have to specify all assignments for both sections?

 

A follow-up question.  Can the same assignment have different due dates for the two sections?

Thank you for contacting the Instructure Community. Yes, all you need to do is have the "assign to" section apply to everyone. You do not need to specify the sections themselves. Additionally, no you can't have the same section assigned two different due dates. There is no way for Canvas to differentiate between the two. Your best bet is to create groups if you need certain students from a section to be assigned one due date and other students within the section a separate date. Here is the Canvas guide:
