I am wondering whether the late submission deduction policy on Canvas gradebook applies to the sync scores from MyLab assignments. If so, how does Canvas determine the submission time of the work?
Hello @jw27
External tools are specifically documented in the missing policy guide but not late, and I think thats because it is a bit of a grey area. It just depends on what the tool is going to pass over to Canvas. If it just passes a score then the late policy will not apply. But if there is a submission with timestamp then it might apply, and the late policy should deduct. There are many LTIs that are used for assignments and they all vary based on how it was created. I checked the Pearson page for LTI submissions with Canvas and they do not explicitly state it. Here is the Canvas guide:

The short answer is, you'll need to test it. I would reach out to the school and speak with someone and you could easily test this in a sandbox course. There is a good likelihood that Pearson MyLab would have scores apply to the late policy you have in the gradebook, but this is on an LTI by LTI basis and you will want to check it. IF anyone else has a concrete answer for Pearson MyLab, please feel free to post. You can also always contact Pearson and ask as this is technically their product:

Hey everyone, I didn't see a post about this in my quick perusal of the forums, but I'm wondering if anyone is having issues with Canvas becoming unresponsive. I'm probably the most savvy person with Canvas at my school, so I don't have anyone I can ask. Over the past week I've been getting a variety of errors. Here are…

Hi everyone, It looks like the multiple rubric idea has bounced around a bit with the different feature request methodologies over the years, including a mention in New & Next 2024 according to this post, interviews in the enhanced rubrics features group, being listed as "under consideration" on the new roadmap, and this…
We are using the Learning Mastery Gradebook with an rubric on account-level. When we enter the gradebook, the sorting does not make any sense. How can we make the sorting so it makes sense to us. It feels like a randam sorting.
Hi all, Quick question about the Gradebook color status for a 2-part checkpoint discussion. If a student completes the first due date (initial post) but does not complete the required replies by the second due date, is there any way for Canvas to automatically show a color (e.g., missing/late) instead of staying as…
