Quiz answer in date format.

What I am looking for is the ability to ask a student to enter an answer on a quiz.  Similar to the numerical answer but I would like to have them enter a date.  Ideally the quiz page would offer them a date picker widget similar to what I use an instructor when setting up due dates and such.  

Any way of doing this in Canvas?

Though not as easy as a date picker, the new fill in the blank options allow for you to look for specifically formatted text in automated grading.  So depending on what you are looking for - any date, a specific date, a specific series of dates, you can use the regular expression option to check for the correct answer and give credit for a variety of answers based on the format.  I think it was Ruby Canvas uses if I remember right.

So you could require the student enters a two digit number followed by a / or - followed by another two digit number followed by a / or -, followed by a 4 digit number, then 01/01/2022 would be correct as would 02-15-2024 as they all fit the format.
