Embedding

I like to use the homepage to have links to modules and assignments. For the past month or so, I will upload a link and when I go to save, it gives me a message "Content is still being uploaded, if you continue it will not be embedded properly." I will wait a few minutes but it continues to pop up. Any help?

Hi @YannessaJ,

I came across this post while doing a bit of a cleanup of questions in the Canvas LMS question forum here. Did you happen to see @Chris_Hofer's request for more info? I would agree with him that the message you're describing is not something I've ever seen come from Canvas, so I wonder if perhaps it's a 3rd party tool (perhaps a video tool, as those usually have the longest upload times) generating the message. If you have any more details, please feel free to share them. If we don't hear back from you, we'll mark this as solved, though you (or anyone else) can come back at any time and unmark the solution.

I am not familiar with any message like that within Canvas. Might you be able to share a screenshot or two...or record a short screencast showing what is happening on your screen? (Be sure not to show any student identifying information ... because FERPA.) I think that would be helpful for us here in the Community to see a visual of what you're describing.

One of my instructors is having this same issue. I'm attaching a screenshot.

I imported the page to my own course for testing, and the same thing is happening. I even tried deleting all links and images, so there's only text on the page, and I still get the error when I try to save. Also, on the page itself, all of the links are dead. You can't click on them or highlight them or anything. Very odd, and can't figure out how to get it to work.

One of the instructors of my institution was having the same problem. The "answer" was not very helpful - why is it marked as the answer?

@clpatter's response was more helpful. With it, I found the problem text/code - although I cannot explain it.

Through trial-and-error, I found that the issue was with/in <span>. It turns out, the user had used a tool called TinyMCE - a popular rich text editor. Inside the <span>, a foreign class was used called "mceNonEditable". It seems that this was being interpreted as placeholders and it might have been assumed that the content is still being uploaded.
