I am creating a rubric for a faculty member, but as you can see on the attached image the lines for each point value don't line up. Is there anyway to move the lines so they all match up (i.e. 15pt value criteria box matches throughout the entire rubric?
Hello ac8ga and welcome to the Canvas Community! There is currently no way to make the columns in rubrics align regardless of the amount typed into the rubric itself. However, there is an idea currently open for vote to which you might consider lending your support. The response by @James in this idea also has some helpful information.

I may have some good news for you. This past weekend, Instructure released a bunch of new updates to Canvas. One of them centers around the first phase of redesigning rubrics. Check out this section of the Canvas Release Notes: Canvas Release Notes (2024-07-20) - Instructure Community - 606797 (canvaslms.com).
Also, if the rubrics redesign option is enabled, when I built a rubric that had different text in all the cells, the columns did line up...even if the amount of text was different. I did not test this in the student view, but I did take a screenshot from the instructor view which you might find interesting:
You'll also notice there is a drop-down list at the top left corner which currently says "Traditional". Other viewing options in this list include "Horizontal" and "Vertical"...which are detailed in the link I provided.
You might want to talk with your school's Canvas administrator about enabling this Feature Option in your Canvas environment.
I hope this will help in some way.
The link on this doesn't seem to work. What happened to the request for this feature?
I concur with theresa_jarvis. The link does not work at the moment, and I hope this future is integrated.
I happened to align my rubric's view in the way I wanted in the past. I was trying to remember the process. So, at least, there was a workaround solution.
After a bit of investigation, it appears to me that the aligned view is available only in the grade book view, and the editable rubric on the rubric management page is not aligned. So, likes the future is not integrated.
At the end of the day, the grade book view is more important for my use and students' view. Having this aligned at least there is something helpful. It would be more meaningful if it has the same view on the design page as well for editing and having a correct preview.
Good luck with your rubrics!
We're trying to build out a maintainable way of managing higher-level course content and have that information flow down into course instances. We're currently using integration_id and integration_data on Assignments to effectively identify each assignment. When we create copies, import content, or use Blueprint Courses to…
Previously on the built-in rubrics, vertical view, the rubric items were collapsed. You could expand them to see details of each point value. Now they are expanded by default and I see no way to collapse them. When a teacher is grading 20 of the same assignment, he or she knows what each point value entails. By having them…
As "Ideas" section is gone (at least for now), I'm posting a feature request here. Mobile app shows a list of students who have submitted or not submitted a quiz/assignment. Would be good to have this in web version as well as way to export csv.
Could you please clarify about the URL structure for the new Canvas Portfolio feature after the retirement of the ePortfolios on June 30, 2026?
I’m a student exploring a small personal project related to Canvas grade notifications and student experience, and I wanted to ask about what is technically and policy-wise feasible within Canvas. Many students receive email notifications like “A new grade has been posted,” but then need to log into Canvas to actually see…
