My students are telling me that they can't resubmit assignments where they have already made a submission via the google drive external tool. The due date and 'until' date have not passed, and the number of submissions allowed is 'unlimited'.
Hello @EliseBell —
This is a limitation of how the external Google Drive LTI handles submissions in Canvas, not a course setting issue. Here I am sharing relevant guides:
This is the primary Google maintained guide for the Google Assignments LTI 1.3 integration. It explains how the tool creates a single Google file per student and how submissions are handled through the external tool rather than as native Canvas uploads. It also documents known limitations and expected behaviors.Use Assignments LTI with Canvas
This Canvas student guide explains how Google Drive files are submitted and includes an important note that only one file can be submitted per attempt when using Google Drive. It also explains that Google submissions are references to Drive files rather than traditional uploads.Canvas Student Guide: Upload from Google Drive
This instructor guide explains how Canvas cloud assignments and Google Drive external tool assignments work. It notes that Google Drive based assignments have specific limitations compared to standard file upload assignments and that resubmission behavior differs.Create a cloud assignment with Google Drive

I am currently experiencing an issue where a student’s assignment grade appears in Moderate, but it is not populating in the Canvas gradebook. I have verified the submission is there, but the grade is still missing from the gradebook view. Is there a known fix or additional step needed to get the grade to display properly?
Hi all, Quick question about the Gradebook color status for a 2-part checkpoint discussion. If a student completes the first due date (initial post) but does not complete the required replies by the second due date, is there any way for Canvas to automatically show a color (e.g., missing/late) instead of staying as…
Canvas Portfolios provide a powerful platform for students to document their learning journey, reflect on their progress, and showcase competencies. However, in programs where multiple educators are involved in assessment—such as team teaching, moderation, or competency-based evaluation—there are important questions about…
Hi There, We are in the process of transitioning to Canvas this year and were wanting to connect with any other MYP schools to see how you setup Assignment and grading under your modules. Or you could guide us to any resources you may have.
Our "Outcomes" has not been working for about 6 months. Teachers can't build and attach Outcomes to new quizzes. Canvas said it was a rollover issue. Canvas won't fix it unless we pay them $2000 to "re-train" us for 10 hours. Has anyone had this problem and did it get fixed?
