Improving File Sharing and Preparation Features in BigBlueButton

I would like to suggest a few enhancements to the conference experience in BigBlueButton within Canvas LMS.

First, it would be very useful to have the ability to add personal files directly into the shared notes or to link external resources within them. This would make it easier for instructors and students to reference materials in real time without needing to switch between multiple platforms.

Second, adding the option to set up conference materials before the meeting begins would greatly improve efficiency. Being able to preload documents, notes, or resources ahead of time would allow sessions to start more smoothly and make better use of class time.

These improvements could enhance both organization and engagement during live sessions. What do others think? Would these features improve your experience using BigBlueButton in Canvas, or are there other related improvements you would prioritize?

If you would like to make a suggestion for improvements to Canvas, you can do that through their new process via the Canvas Collaborative Roadmap. When you go to that page, you'll see a button on the top right corner for "Share a Contribution". There's also a button for "How We Prioritize" which you can read though if you want. And you can also check out Elizabeth's blog posting called Canvas Roadmap Recap: March 2026 which has more detail about the new Feature Idea process here in the Community website.
