Automated proof of enrollment and certificate of completion

Question

My learners often need a proof of enrollment (that shows what class they are enrolling in and when) or a letter of completion (what class they took and their earned grade). Does anyone have any ideas on how this could be automated through Canvas? Currently, they email me for these requests and I generate them manually from a templated word document.

Without building or buying an app, there's nothing native that I'm aware of that would do what you want.

I wonder if this is something that your organisation might provide under a standard format, rather than you creating the information? This way all the records are verified and provided by the relevant source from your organisation?

@wak5oq_UCGCP_2026 Not directly through Canvas. However, if your school uses the Microsoft 365 suite, you could use Power Automate to automate this process. For example: when an email or request is received → make an API request (a way to pull data from Canvas without having to interact with it visually) to Canvas LMS to retrieve the relevant student data → merge the data into a document → send it back to the student. Alternatively, you could explore other workflow automation platforms such as n8n
