I can no longer download student file submissions--access denied

This spring, suddenly the Speed Grader looks different, and one change I've noticed is that I can no longer download a student's assignment submission. It says "access denied" when I try to download it. A student's video had no sound, so I wanted to download it to see if that would fix the issue, but I can't. Any suggestions?

Hi Jennie! I think there are two things happening here. Firstly, the item you noted about seeing 'access denied' when trying to download an assignment submission is a known issue in some Canvas environments and for some enrolment roles at the moment; and a fix for this is actively being worked by our engineering teams. If this is high priority for you I would recommend connecting with your CSM to track the rollout of that fix.

Secondly, you noted that Speed Grader looks different for you now - I suspect that may have to do with an enhancement that was rolled out in January. That blog post will point you to some resources to help unpack what's changed and why.
