How do I get my images on Canvas to upload?

Whenever I try to upload an image on Canvas, it infinitely loads forever and never stops. I'd suspect it has something to do with how Canvas interprets the image into html, as my word count goes up by a bunch every time I try to add the image.

In the past I've tried reducing the file size of images by reducing their quality, and while this made the images take up a lot less space, it did not fix the infinite loading. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
(Note, if it's at all applicable: I am a student, not an instructor)

I have not been a Canvas admin as long as some others (we started to use Canvas full-time in Summer 2019) and have never had this reported to me.

The only thing I can think of is related to your Canvas user account's own quota but I have no idea how that would relate to the word count that the Rich Content Editor (RCE) is showing.

I would recommend two, technically three things:

access your own "Files" delete something that is "large" that you no longer need (or download it to your computer/device as a backup before deleting it) and then try again
contact your school's Canvas team (typically a distance education or online learning department but it could be named something else) to see if they have had any other students (or faculty) report a similar problem
if it is available to you, contact Canvas Support directly (the options for how you can do it, if you can do it, are in the "Help" area of your school's Canvas environment)
