Hello, I see that there have been changes to the mobile to-do list. Previously I would be presented with a list of everything with a due date within one week (Monday - Sunday).
In December, (just before my final assignments were due btw :]) the to-do list changed to a different view which initially messed up all of my assignment dates by including previously completed assignments, was missing assignments which I knew to be due that week, included the date at the bottom of the assignment and a checkbox to, I assume, manually mark an assignment as complete? As of today, it seems that most of the proper assignments populate the to-do list, but I'm still missing some items.
I am not a fan of the new to-do list interface. I don't like the checkbox which allows me to potentially accidentally hide an item that is still due, I don't like seeing all my assignments with the date underneath it, forcing me to double check each one even if they're sorted properly, and I really would love to just have the view I had before.
Having a week of assignments that I can look at on Monday, separated by days, was immensely helpful to planning out the week. It gave me much more flexibility and visibility, and the rare and important feeling of completion. If, for instance I have completed all of my assignments for the week on Friday, I am left with an ease which immediately goes away looking at the browser to-do list. It is very difficult to not constantly stress out about assignments coming due, and this week-long view was perfect for managing that. It allows me, in the example I gave earlier, to merely reload the to-do list over the weekend to ensure nothing else was added, and then go on with my day.
When it is presented like the browser, with a longer date range, and organized by something else (maybe assignment availability date, or by class) I never feel like I can rest, and I have to triple check the dates to make sure I'm reading them right. Basically I'm having to reorganize the to do list in my head, or on paper, the way that it used to just show up by default. I also have to double check the to-do list on browser, or the assignments page, to ensure I didn't accidentally click the manual complete check box. It adds unnecessary stress, frustration, effort, and ambiguity, in my opinion.
After that long-winded intro, my question is: can we please, please, have some option to return to the previous to-do list view on mobile (iOS in my case)? I still have the ability to go into more detail about my to-do list on browser if I want to, which was already part of the work flow, but I really feel that I, and I believe many others, would do much better with less information and less functionality on the mobile to do list. One week of assignments coming due, separated by day, is simple, helpful, and reliable, and while there were occasional and rare outliers, usually when the professor input a date wrong or separated an assignment differently than they intended submission, they were easily managed and not worth changing the perfect system you had before.
