We use iOS and Android guides in our file upload Assignments, and it appears that there are now broken.
Any chance that there will be able to be a fix for this (redirect?) so that the old iOS and Android links work?
For example, this link still works: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-use-my-webcam-to-take-a-photo-for-an-assignment/ta-p/478066
But these links do not:
https://community.instructure.com/en/t5/Canvas-Student-iOS-Guide/tkb-p/student_ios#Assignments
https://community.instructure.com/en/t5/Canvas-Student-Android-Guide/tkb-p/student_android#Assignments
Hi @DeonScanlon,
I know the community team is still fixing/adding some redirect links from the old community. I'd give it a couple more days to see the redirect starts working. Ultimately, in my personal opinion, its a best practice to update the links on your side to the current ones at some point. Redirects may work for years, but are hardly ever around forever.

Hello @DeonScanlon - Just checking back! Thank you for giving us some time to follow up on redirects! Now that we’re a few weeks post-launch, how are the URLs working within your courses? We’d love to hear about your experience so far so we can continue improve things for everyone.
Thanks - we have set the new links in our templates for future use - we are talking thousands of assignments that would need links fixed right now!
Hi @Kristin Lundstrum - thanks for checking in (down here in Australia we've been on summer break for a while, so not much is happening at the teacher/student level). And, thanks for updating the redirects!
I did notice that the old "How to set Notifications" link doesn't work. This is the old one: https://community.instructure.com/en/docs/DOC-1286 and to access this information we now need to use https://community.instructure.com/en/kb/articles/662894-how-do-i-manage-my-canvas-notification-settings .
A redirect on this would be amazing (and save us having to update the link in all our existing courses, as it is in the introduction module for every single course that we run!).
Hi @DeonScanlon - Thank you for continuing the conversation! Unfortunately, the DOC part of the URL means that the link was bookmarked before July 2020. It was possible to access the item between then and December 2025 due to a redirect, but we are unable apply a new redirect to that URL. I truly wish I had better news to share!
Drat! That's going to be a lot of dead links for us. Thanks for the quick reply :)
I think we have had a new link in our template for a few years, so hopefully not too many!
Hi there,
We are having the same issue at my institution. The following link does not work.
Instructure Community
Any update on this or if you are able to provide me with the best replacement for mobile guides that would be great!
Thanks,
Charlotte Merlock

The general link to mobile guides can be found at:
Canvas Mobile - Instructure Community
You can then select your device type and find the specific guide you're looking for.
For the link you referenced in your post, I went to the Wayback Machine website (Internet Archive) and tried to see if I could find out what that page looked like. I think it might be this page (though keep in mind this archive won't display exactly what the page used to look like):
Mobile Guides - Canvas by Instructure | Canvas Community
Based on what I'm seeing on that page, it looks like the page just contained a link to the sections on Mobile guides for iOS and Android, but not a specific guide. So, I would assume that you could either use the first link I provided above, or you could use one of these two if you wanted:
I hope this might help in some way.
We have enabled the automatic migration of Classic to New Quizzes. When we import QTI files, though, they always fail to load as New Quizzes. If we disabled New Quiz Migration, it works. Why does it only work for Classic Quizzes? Are there any guaranteed tools that will generate QTI files that will import correctly as New…
Is it possible to change the system-wide notification defaults for a hosted Canvas instance? Since I can't find a way to do it, nor any reference to doing it, I'm assuming not but wanted to make sure before I give that as an answer.
Hi everyone, I had a teacher reach out with an odd (and concerning) LockDown Browser issue and wanted to see if others have experienced something similar. A student was taking a quiz using Respondus LockDown Browser on a Chromebook 300e Yoga G4 (8GB), a 2‑in‑1 device that can flip into tablet mode. During the active quiz,…
Hi all, Quick question about the Gradebook color status for a 2-part checkpoint discussion. If a student completes the first due date (initial post) but does not complete the required replies by the second due date, is there any way for Canvas to automatically show a color (e.g., missing/late) instead of staying as…
We have recently encountered an issue where two students were unable to see the "Take the Quiz" button. These students were taking different exams for different courses within our Testing Center. Both exams required Respondus LockDown Browser and were restricted to specific IP addresses. In both cases, the students were…
