Edit, filter, etc list of students which are unassigned to a group

I can message all unassigned students in a group, but how can I edit this list? Or put a filter on? Usually all Canvas messages have the possibility to manually remove students and/or filter but not when I message all unassigned students in a group? Or did I miss something? How can I do this without having to manually copy and check each student on the list and send a "normal" Canvas message?

Allow Observers to View Instructor Comments
It would be very beneficial for observers (parents) if they could view instructor comments. If they had access to this information, they could better understand the grading of individual assignments and better understand the errors that their student made.
