Issues Uploading Power Point ( Slides are changed once uploaded)

After I post my lectures to my modules tab, in power point format, when I review them the original formating of the power point that I have designed is changed. The fonts are different and some of the image layout has also shifted. This is only in the preview mode, if I download the file it is correct. Any idea why this happens or how to fix it?

A quick guess is that the browser does not have access to the particular fonts you are using in the slides. You can probably look up a list of fonts that work well for online display. I personally switched to beautiful AI, not because I wanted slides made by AI, but because Slide decks are quicker to build and easy to embed in Canvas. I will often throw the slides into Canvas with an embed and then present straight from Canvas by making the slides full screen.

You might also get good results from using the web version of PowerPoint to build the slide decks, and then using one of the Microsoft integrations into Canvas to share the decks. Although my understanding is that Microsoft is rolling out a new Canvas integration on September 15th.

I think @dhulsey is likely right on track with supported/unsupported fonts being the issue. Canvas really is only providing a preview of the file and there are definitely some things that will not look the same or work the same as when downloading files. For reference, the What types of files can I preview in Canvas? - Instructure Community - 617187 guide has a list of the fonts that are supported by Docviewer. If you use a supported font, the preview should look much closer or identical to what you see in Powerpoint (at least for text).

Adding to @dhulsey and @chriscas , the missing fonts is the nub of the issue. If you are prepared to load those fonts into the Powerpoint then Canvas will be able to render them. There is a small overhead in terms of size.
