Hello, I just tried to import an old course so that I could use some assignments again from last year. However, even though the status shows that the import has completed, there are no materials in the new course. Can anyone help troubleshoot?
First you might try double checking to make sure that you are importing the correct course and semester. We import all of the online courses for our college. Occasionally we choose a course either from the same semester we are in, or a future semester, neither of which has content yet. So the import appears to be working correctly, but there was nothing in the initial course to import.
The other possibility is with the settings. You are given the option to import all content or choose specific content. If you select the choose specific content you will get a second window which will require you to select each item you want to import, and then import the content.
If neither of those options are helpful, you might try exporting the course that you want to import as a course file, and then importing the course file, rather than importing from the course.
If none of those options work you'll have to contact support. You should have a ?/help button in your course. They can look at your specific situation. Good luck!
Hi there @RaginiShah ,
Thanks for reaching out on the Instructure Community!
This can happen sometimes. Depending on the size of the course upload, it can take a long time for everything to appear. I just want to verify -- did you happen to see any alerts or warnings aside from it saying it was completed? Sometimes things can't be imported correctly, and it needs you to review certain things.
Let us know so we can provide you with our best insight!Noah
Could there be a feature added (or maybe there is something out there already) to limit not just the file EXTENSION but the file NAME as well? For example, instead of just requiring "XLSX" extension for JoeSmith-Assignment1.XLSX, we could require "*Assignment1.XLSX" for the filename. This would ensure that students submit…
Among all the things that I wish Canvas had is that one! Is it something that is been worked on? We had it in Blackboard (legacy) and I sorely miss and need in Canvas (we just transitioned to it from Bb). Please add this very needed feature!
I have Canvas set to drop the lowest quiz score, however, my students can only barely tell that the grade text is slightly grey when dropped. Can it have a tag like the "missing" and "exempt" ones in the student gradebook?
My Canvas shell has three different sections that all meet at different times throughout the week. I need to be able to batch edit assignment due dates by section, but right now Canvas can't filter by section for batch edit. My only option is now to manually (tediously) edit due dates for each assignment individually.
Morning! One of the more frustrating aspects of Canvas are groups and the issues that show up when copying courses that have them. But now we have yet another issue. Most recently we have had instances where people mark an assignment/discussion as a group assignment but then do not link the discussion or assignment to any…
