How can I (an instructor) transfer all of my existing Canvas shells that belongs to one institute to another as I move to a new institute?
Hi @echoi2 ,
Welcome and thank you for asking on the Instructure Community!
I recommend exporting your canvas course shell to your computer files by going to your course settings and clicking on export course content. Then, in your new course, click import existing content, and select that file that was exported from your original course. I will provide an image below as a reference!
If your current school has Canvas Commons enabled, you can also share your course to Commons publicly, and access it on your new account and import it from there, too. https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Commons/How-do-I-share-a-resource-to-Commons/ta-p/1798
I hope this helps you! Reach out with any additional questions or concerns, thanks!Noah
Hi @echoi2,
There are a couple ways that I know of to do this...
With either method, external tool content will likely not work at the new institution, but your milage there may vary (and you may not use external tools at all anyways). I would also just advise you to ensure you have copyright ownership of your course content just to avoid any potential legal issues. Some schools/institutions may have ownership/copyright of any content you created while employed there. Of course you're free to do whatever you'd like, but I at least wanted to bring this up for awareness.
I hope this helps a bit!

This spring, suddenly the Speed Grader looks different, and one change I've noticed is that I can no longer download a student's assignment submission. It says "access denied" when I try to download it. A student's video had no sound, so I wanted to download it to see if that would fix the issue, but I can't. Any…
A recent change my students have been complaining about is that they now have to wait for Canvas to process submissions so that it can be displayed within the browser before they can check that the submission worked. When the servers are heavily loaded I have seen student need to wait 5 minutes for this. When submitting at…
If I access to the student card I can see the recent messages, but I would like to see all the messages, not only the recent. Thank you
We are testing a third party integration from our college's ERP provider. We have connected it to our test environment. It seems to have very few features and options. So, just wondering if there is a way to monitor API calls. I was able to use the DAPClient in Python to download canvas_logs in our production environment.…
To the Canvas Product Team, I am writing to request a new global or course-level setting for the Rich Content Editor (RCE). Currently, when images are uploaded or embedded, Canvas defaults to displaying the full image. For many lab-based and data-heavy courses—such as my current molecular biology lab course—we often need…
