How do I open a course from a previous semester up for just one student?

We routinely run into situations where a student has received an incomplete, but is allowed to complete the course after the semester has ended. I would like to know how to open up the course for just one student after the term has ended. Is this even possible without opening up the entire course?

What we generally do is to create a new section in the course (call it whatever you want, we append an "I" to the original section name.  After you create the section, edit it and assign the original start date of the course and the new end date for the incomplete, ensuring you check the " Students can only participate in the course between these dates" option checked.  Next, go to the people page, and click the three dots menu and choose "edit sections", selecting the new section from there (do this for both the teacher and student).  That should grant full access to the course for just the single student and teacher...

On the teacher side, they'll need to still go to assingments/discussions/quizzes and adjust any available_until and due dates for the single student.
