Hello! I am happy to share that a fix for this tooltip will be out soon. If anyone would like to receive updates about the fix as it progresses to completion, please submit a ticket with Canvas Support.
Hi DeletedUser...
This is an interesting question, and I checked my own sandbox course to see if I could set a date to close self sign-up. Unfortunately, I didn't find any settings within any of my own groups (via the "People" page that allowed me to do this). So, I came back here to the Community site, and I found an open idea that someone submitted several years ago:
[Groups] Close self sign-up to groups on a specifi... - Page 2 - Instructure Community - 368490
I know this isn't a direct answer to your question, but you might want to read through the proposed idea and two pages of comments to see what people are saying.
Also, the voting process is going through some changes right now, so you'll want to read through this blog entry:
It’s Time for Your Feedback on the Future of Ideas... - Instructure Community - 619026
I hope this will be of some help to you...even if it's not a direct answer to your question.
Hi,it seams that if you turn off the self-enrolment in the group settings this will lock the group memberships... that might be a work around for you but it is not an automatic function with a date (which is what you primarily asked for).
OP didn't request new functionality. CANVAS points out in the information provided when selecting "Self sign-up" that an end date for signing up can be set. But it appears there is nowhere to actually do this? I too would like to use this feature. Instructure, please implement this functionality as promised in your current version.
We would like to see this feature resolved as well. We previously have been able to "remove the self-enrol" option after a certain date (as a work around to not having an availability option). Our academics often will want students to have self-enrol for a fixed period of time and then the groups are locked down so they can stay in the same group for the remaining duration of the course
After the cyber attack, some of my embedded images aren't showing up in quizzes. It seems to just be one of my classes, in particular, and the others were fixed on Monday. Anybody know what 3 of my classes were fixed, but the fourth one (Geometry) won't show the images in the quizzes?
Hi everyone, I've got several pages and assignments where I use frames to embed videos and interactive resources. But whenever I go into editing, the formatting in some of them breaks down: the video size shrinks down, or I'm left with an empty blank space. I think I've narrowed down the cause of this issue: Some of these…
The most recent quizzes and question banks (including renames) are not showing up as options in the Course Import Tool. As I was creating a new quiz in one course (Classic), I went to add the questions from the Question Bank, but what I needed wasn't there. I went back to the other course to make sure everything was…
In the wake of the recent Canvas security incident, many instructors are rethinking how they protect their course materials and ensure continuity for students if the LMS becomes unavailable. A common question we’re hearing is how to effectively back up courses “just in case,” especially with an eye toward re‑distributing…
Hi all, Quick question about the Gradebook color status for a 2-part checkpoint discussion. If a student completes the first due date (initial post) but does not complete the required replies by the second due date, is there any way for Canvas to automatically show a color (e.g., missing/late) instead of staying as…
