When I set an assignment in a mastery path I put in a due date. When students are assigned that assignment it creates an new assigned to without that due date. So I have to remember to go back in after the first student is assigned and reset the due date. This makes no sense to me at all and it is both time consuming and problematic as you have to remember to do this.
@Greengal
We have seen this issue at our school too and wish that the due date would automatically apply to the students once they are added too. There is currently an Idea submitted for this feature request and we hope to see this get prioritized for development and released in the future: [MasteryPaths] Mastery Paths: Automatically Set Conditional Item Due Dates
For now though, we also have to wait and monitor for the first student to get assigned in order to set the apply the due date to the students too.
I did figure out a workaround for this, but it is still unwieldy, and we really need to get this feature request filled.
This will work if you have one quiz ("the opening quiz") to open one more quiz ("the second quiz"). It may work for longer chains, but I haven't tested that.
Go to "Grades" and assign a 100% grade to the Test Student for "the opening quiz". In Modules, click on "the second quiz", and you will see a new date box assigned to the Test Student. Set the dates in this box as desired. Save and click Continue in the warning box.
I know, I know...it's not ideal, but it's better than having to remember to go back in and set a date after a real student has taken "the opening quiz".

Hi everyone, I am new to the role and trying to set the new term in Canvas for Year 12 graduating in 2027. With the Sentral sync, the Year 12 courses are created automatically with change of class name, however in Canvas the new course has the old term and SIS ID. So , instead of Y12_2027 it is still Y12_2026. I have tried…
Our institution is setting up 9 institutional outcomes in Canvas. Several of our outcomes have multiple skill sets within the rubric. For example: Critical Reading – Skill Set A Critical Reading – Skill Set B Critical Reading – Skill Set C Our understanding is that Canvas Outcomes data reports can provide the overall/total…
I am just curiousas to why there is not a field to enter a description for an outcome at the account level? Or at least edit the rating when you attach/link an account level outcome to a rubric. When you create a new criterion for a rubric, you enter a decription for a rating, but for an account level outcome.
We use a pre- post- model to measure learning which requires student-question matching from two time periods. This requires exporting quiz data to CSV to do the analysis properly. (I can get into more detail if needed.) The New Quizzes Student Analysis CSV export has repeated blocks of ItemID then columns related to that…
