@RecycledElectro is correct - you need to approach your teacher or student support team for advice on this.
There are two probable issues
1) You are using a browser that Canvas does not support - please check here - https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Basics-Guide/What-are-the-browser-and-computer-requirements-for-Instructure/ta-p/66
2) There may be an issue with how your assignment is set up which your teacher would need to investigate.
