Email links within Canvas not opening

Hello wonderful community

I've adding an email link (mailto:) into a canvas page, but it is not opening in my gmail.

I'm using Chrome browser and gmail is my default email client.

When I clink the link it opens a new tab (labeled untitled) with 'about:blank' in the address bar.

Any clues about this?

I have noticed that if you add an email address with the link tool in the WYSIWYG, even if you put mailto: as part of the address, Canvas converts it into a url and opens a new page, which will be broken. You have to go into code view and add it manually.
