I use groups of 2-3 students often in classes. I use notes in the grade book to keep track of what group students are assigned. I would like to be order my students in the gradebook by there group number/name. Thanks
I don't have a solution to ordering the "Notes" column in Canvas specifically (I'm not sure that's possible currently), but it does sound like potentially filtering your Gradebook based on student groups would help for what you want to see. If you made groups in the class and then assigned the students to those, you can use the Gradebook's "Apply Filters" button to select the "Student Groups" option and choose particular groups to review. You wouldn't see all your groups at the same time, but you could see the data for a partulcar group and then switch to the next one when you are ready.
If for some reason they shouldn't have access to those groups online or there's another reason you don't want the groups set up in the Canvas class, then maybe a different workaround would be to export your gradebook, open that CSV file in Excel, and then sort the workbook based on that column. The Notes column should be included in that export (at least according to this "How do I use the Notes column in the Gradebook?" article). In the test I just did for my sample class, it had the Notes column as column F - I presume it would be fairly consistent if you tried it on your end, but you may want to check since I don't know 100% if that is the case. Once I knew what column had the Notes information, I just selected the range of data I wanted sorted, clicked the "Sort and Filter" and "Custom Sort" options, and then specified that I wanted the data sorted based on that particular column. That seemed to work pretty well.
I know that neither suggestion perfectly matches your request, but I hope it helps you find what you need in the meantime.
I'm not sure that this is the right place to post about this, but I was wondering if anyone has a fix for how the scroll bar for the entire page covers the scroll bar for just a document viewed in Canvas. The scroll bar for a document will stay visible until one attempts to interact with it, at which point the bar for the…
Hi There, We are in the process of transitioning to Canvas this year and were wanting to connect with any other MYP schools to see how you setup Assignment and grading under your modules. Or you could guide us to any resources you may have.
After using Canvas for a while, I picked up a small habit that’s saved me some last-minute stress with written submissions. Even when drafts are original, longer explanations and summaries tend to reuse common phrasing, especially in research-heavy assignments. Before submitting, I usually do a quick cleanup pass to reduce…

Use Case: This feature is vital for practice quizzes that include essay questions along with other question types. We mix essay questions with other…
