Chat/inbox privacy

Question

Just wondering what kind (if any) of monitoring is used for the private messages done through the courses? Like when we message a classmate by finding their name under classroom>students. Or when we creat grouped chats? Didnt find anything about privacy and inbox/chat in the guides or resources provided.

Hi @LinaG21,

I think you'll really need to ask someone at your school/institution what their policies and practices are around this.  I don't believe Instructure monitors user communications in Canvas on a regular bases though.  Your school may or may not be similar.  I would say that Canvas admins at your school/institution would always have access to view messages if a situation arose where it was deemed necessary though.
