I was wondering if there was a way to display student name on my home page. I am thinking of displaying something like: Welcome, [Student name].
I am not sure if it's possible to do that. Let me know if anyone has done this before
Hi @NayanikaGoje
What you're describing is possible in Blackboard using "template variables", but there is no equivalent functionality built into Canvas.
Some admins/developers are trying different ways to replicate this functionality by customizing the Canvas theme with additional code (see https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Higher-Ed-Canvas-Users/simulating-replicating-Blackboard-quot-template-variables-quot/ba-p/571524 ) but it's not something that you can do as an individual instructor.

Do you know if your school uses DesignTools (Design PLUS) from Cidi Labs to design content layout? If so, I know there is something called a "hidden gem" that allows you to display someone's name on a page. I am trying to enable differentiation but it is not coming up as an option in my settings. Can someone help?
I have one student who is unable to see the Canvas quizzes. He can click the link to the quiz in the modules list, but the next page is completely empty (except for the usual Canvas navigation on the left). I can't clear the cookies because of the school security settings, but I have tried him on other Chromebooks and…

Some of those questions had "General Answer Comment" text already saved in them. I changed that text in several questions as I updated/changed the questions.…
I would like to suggest improvements to how collaborations function within Canvas LMS. Currently, collaborations are somewhat limited in how they can be accessed and integrated into course content. One potential improvement would be allowing collaborations to be directly linkable within Pages and Modules. This would make…
We are using the Learning Mastery Gradebook with an rubric on account-level. When we enter the gradebook, the sorting does not make any sense. How can we make the sorting so it makes sense to us. It feels like a randam sorting.
