How can an instructor know what group a student is in?

I'm having difficulty using groups in a large class.

1) My class has 30 groups of 8 students. The page's search function only seems to work for unassigned students? As far as I can tell, the fastest way to see what group a student is in is to go to the groups page, click all 30 groups to open them, and then use the web browser's search function. Is there a better way?

2) The Canvas Teacher IOS app seems to not allow you to interact with the groups function (or gradebook)? Is this correct?

Hi there @greenmonkey! If you just need to look at a few students, you can see a student's group membership by going to the People section of the course, selecting the three vertical dots at the end of the row of the student you want to look at, and select user details. Under enrollments on that page, it will show they are a member of (group name). I'm not sure about your second question, unfortunately.

When I look in User Details for a person who is in "Group 2", there is no group info in the Membership window, just the name of the class (attached)?

Both of these are long-standing problems for me. I come back to the boards every year searching for a new solution or work-around. I also have about 30 groups in my course, and it takes way too long to figure out what group a student is in. That search feature is such a TEASE!!! I did see a user suggestion to fix this issue in this year's search, and someone had marked it as "added to theme," but didn't say which theme. I tried to find it to see if it could be upvoted/supported, but the themes list is a mile long, and "groups" isn't a theme.

I've also experienced the same problem with the mobile app, but I don't use it nearly as much as I do my desktop.
