search people in Courses (Canvas Teacher app or desktop)

It would be extremely helpful to search for a student under Courses and then identify the course in which the student exists. Or, from inbox, navigate to the student’s course.

if you have five sections of a course similarly titled and a student messages you about an assignment, it may take a few minutes to go into each course and then People to see if the student is in that section.

Is there any way from the app or desktop to search the entirety of published/favorite courses for a specific student or to enable more info from inbox messages to identify the course?

Unfortunately not yet, @ryanjross. It is possible to see a student's courses by selecting their profile link from their name on the People page, but that requires already being in a course. Your proposals (student search from the Courses page and course link from a Conversations message) are two excellent suggestions worthy of proposals via the Ideas and Themes process.

I'm going to mark this reply as a solution. I realize it does not solve your problem, but our colleagues who have a similar critique will also find the best way to pass on the feedback.
