Hello! Canvas actually does not have their own spell check. Rather, Canvas uses the built-in spell check that the browser has. I'm not sure what browser you are using, but here is a link that has most of the common browsers and how to enable spell check if it's not turned on:

Firefox spellcheck does not pick up text entered inside annotations when grading submitted reports or other text document. If anyone can think of a trick to fix this, it would save me many hours every year. Also, I have checked and spellcheck is definitely turned on on Firefox preferences.
