embedded webpage direct from Global Navigation?

Hi,

I'm looking to add a link from Global Navigation that opens to an embedded webpage in the main Canvas body.

Could anyone advise if this is possible and if so, how I might accomplish this?

Good morning, @dshaw5 ...

I've not tried this on my own, but here is my thinking on how this might be accomplished:

1. Create a new page in your course.
2. Use an iframe to embed the website into your Canvas page following the hints provided here: Solved: Embed a webpage in Canvas - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com).
3. Add the Redirect LTI to your course.  You can add the Redirect LTI simply by going to your course "Settings" >> "Apps" tab >> "Redirect Tool". >> "+ Add App" button.  Give it whatever name you want.  The "URL Redirect" would be the URL of the page that you created in your course.  Make sure to check the option for "Show in Course Navigation".

Hopefully that will work for your needs.  If you have a sandbox course, you could always test this in there first...or you could even test out these steps in your school's Canvas "test" environment ... which is separate from your school's "production" environment that you typically log into on a daily basis.
