Assignments not required for students starting late

I'm wondering if there is a feature that would enable, at the assignment level, the ability to make an assignment only viewable and required for students who are enrolled in Canvas prior to a certain date?

Unfortunately, at this time such a feature does not exist but you are more than welcome to suggest the idea How do idea conversations work in the Instructure Community?  

How do I create a new idea conversation in the Instructure Community? 

 

In the meantime, you can consider individually using the "Excused" status in the gradebook. How do I change the status of a submission in the Gradebook. Although the assignment/quiz would still be visible, the excused student would not be prompted to submit anything and it won't negatively impact their grade.
